Disney Dinner Theater Reflection

Thanks to the support and generosity of our booster club, Sentinel Supporters, the logic and rhetoric students of Christian Heritage Classical School had the opportunity to put on a unique type of musical production this year. Over 55 students were involved with this amazing show. On April 27, I had the privilege of participating in our first ever Disney Dinner Theater which served as a spring fundraising event for our CHCS Fine Arts Department. As a senior, I felt very honored to mentor and serve the younger students throughout the entire process. The production showcased many talented students through singing and dancing and acting, while audience members enjoyed appetizing meals with their families and friends. Within each performance, four medleys incorporating iconic Disney movies were brought to life on stage, including “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, “Frozen”, and “The Lion King”. In between each medley, student volunteers dressed in elaborate Disney characters, interacted with the audience, posed for pictures by student photographers, and even personally served the guests’ food. Famous characters such as Olaf, Belle, the Genie, and Simba took pictures with the younger children, making this production memorable for the entire family.

This experience would not have been possible without the support and dedication of Sentinel Supporters and many parents and faculty volunteers including Mrs. Brumit, Mrs. Burkhalter, and Mr. and Mrs. Moss. Our talented director and choreographer, Mrs. Burkhalter, described her experience saying, "The Disney Dinner Theater was such a picture of the body of Christ! So many people came together contributing their talents that brought the CHCS community together around the table for wonderful fellowship, great food, and incredible entertainment from our students. This has been an amazing experience for everyone involved and pure joy for me to work with our students."

As a senior, I was especially honored to be a part of such an incredible production with my senior classmates and best friends. My hope is that the legacy of excellence within our Fine Arts Department will continue in the years to come. In addition to the wonderful experience that this was for the community and for its participants, Sentinel Supporters raised over $10,000 in profit for CHCS Fine Arts! The future is definitely bright at Christian Heritage.
