Homecoming Highlights

October 05, 2018
By CHCS

Homecoming Weekend 2018

For the first time in school history, CHCS hosted homecoming over the span of two days in the fall sports season instead of the winter. We kicked off the weekend with an all-school pep rally including games, candy, cheers, and incredible school spirit. On Friday night, we enjoyed a varsity soccer game, Chik-fil-a dinner, special recognition of alumni and honoring of the seniors during their last home district game. Though at first, the weather appeared it would bring a great deal of rain, it held off and we were able to celebrate and enjoy CHCS community and fellowship without a hitch. Saturday's homecoming events brought us a logic school football game, a delicious taco truck, tasty Shivers Natural Snow cones, a varsity football game, a cheer pep-squad half-time performance from all grade levels, more alumni recognition and memories to last us through the years. A special thank you to the Homecoming Committee, Erin Dunnahoo and Robin Carroll, for all your hard work and dedication to make this event such a wonderful experience for all our families!

Former student, Andrew Baas, was recently notified of his National Merit semifinalist status. The Longview News Journal recently printed the following:

I am Andrew Baas, the third Longview National Merit semifinalist, described in the news article as having "moved on to college."

The missing piece to this story is my heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding teachers and staff at my previous school, Christian Heritage School. The teachers have helped me to grow both academically and spiritually and I couldn't have performed this well on the PSAT without their support.

I would also like to express an appreciation, and I'm sure the other two semifinalist would concur, for all of the teachers in the Longview community who are dedicating their lives to investing in our generation.
